The creation of a reliable building rating and performance measurement system for new commercial construction and renovation was the catalyst for moving green building practices into the mainstream. The U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) rigorous Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program has become the nationally accepted benchmark for designing, performing and operating high performance buildings.
LEED is a powerful tool, and like all tools, its efficacy is dictated by the experience and expertise of its users. 7group members have been involved in LEED’s development since its inception, and have remained intimately involved in the program’s evolution, both as members of the LEED Steering Committee, LEED faculty members, the creators of numerous LEED training videos and materials, and contributors to LEED Technical Advisory Groups, reference guides, LEED AP exam content, and curriculum committees. In fact, the project that led to 7group’s formation was one of the first 12 LEED v1.0 pilot projects. Since that time, we’ve been involved in more than 100 LEED projects all over the world.
